The Captain Willard watch...

Seiko launched this re-edition of its 1970 diver at Basel in 2019 and it was exactly what collectors had been asking for. Based on the iconic Seiko 6105, this 45mm Seiko diver has all the hallmarks of the original including the signature winding crown at four o’clock (which retains the “Lock ->” from the original for more vintage vibes). The rotating bezel edge is Zaratsu polished for a complete distortion free finish, which is a hallmark of Grand Seiko finishing and a treat on the Prospex watch.

So, what’s with the nickname? This comes from the film Apocalypse Now’s character Captain Willard who wore a watch in the movie. In fact, the original watches were hugely popular with US Army troops in the Vietnam war. The watch comes with the original large box, guarantee dated 2020, booklets and a flashlight. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
